"WHAT IS MODERN SLAVERY?
Slavery did not end with abolition in the 19th century.
The practice still continues today in one form or another in every country in the world. From women forced into prostitution, children and adults forced to work in agriculture, domestic work, or factories and sweatshops producing goods for global supply chains, entire families forced to work for nothing to pay off generational debts; or girls forced to marry older men, the illegal practice still blights contemporary world.
According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) around 21 million men, women and children around the world are in a form of slavery.
There are many different characteristics that distinguish slavery from other human rights violations, however only one needs to be present for slavery to exist. Someone is in slavery if they are:
- forced to work - through mental or physical threat;
- owned or controlled by an 'employer', usually through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse;
- dehumanised, treated as a commodity or bought and sold as 'property';
Contemporary slavery takes various forms and affects people of all ages, gender and races."
- physically constrained or has restrictions placed on his/her freedom of movement.
The above paragraph can be found on the sites homepage, along with ways to share the info and ways to help their cause. The site is called Anti-Slavery and their mission is:

Anti-Slavery International, founded in 1839, is the world's oldest international human rights organisation and works to eliminate all forms of slavery around the world."
It is a very sad world when we allow slavery to exist in any form at all! We are all humans and we all deserve to be treated properly not as property!! In my opinion, to treat someone properly is to allow them to live their lives as they see fit, to allow them to make a living for themselves, and to at least make sure that they have food, water, and shelter. I would not want to be someone's slave and enjoy being able to access my internet at my house and to work as a freelancer at home. I enjoy being able to go anywhere that I please within my budgetary limits. I enjoy getting paid for my work and using that money on food, my pets (my babies), and anything that I see fit. Slaves do not get treated properly at all and are more/less treated like livestock. I hope that within time we can eradicate slavery, every last bit of it, forever!
